FIRE DEATH UPDATE

FOUL PLAY HAS BEEN RULED OUT IN A DEADLY CARTER COUNTY FIRE THAT CLAIMED THE LIVES OF A MOTHER AND HER 5 YEAR OLD AUTISTIC SON. THE MOTHER, MICHELLE HYTER GRINDSTAFF, AND HER SON, ANDREW HAZELWOOD BOTH PERISHED IN THE FIRE ON OSCAR JOHNSON ROAD IN THE HAMPTON COMMUNITY ON MONDAY AFTERNOON. FIRE INVESTIGATORS BELIEVE THE BLAZE STARTED ACCIDENTLY NEAR OR ON A COUCH IN THE LIVING ROOM AREA, POSSIBLY FROM A CIGARETTE, INCENSE, OR A MATCH. THE WOMAN’S LITTLE GIRL WAS NEXT DOOR AT THE TIME OF THE FIRE. A NEIGHBOR, BOBBIE HARMON TOLD NEWSCHANNEL 11 THE LITTLE GIRL WATCHED IT ALL….
