According To The Sullivan County Health Department, There’s Evidence The Highly Contagious New Omicron Variant Of Covid-19 Is Prevalent In The Tri-Cities. This Is Driving An Increased Demand For Testing. Health Department Director, Dr. Stephen May, Said The County Is Testing On Average, 493 People Per Day With A Positive Rate Of Just Over 22-Percent. May Said The New Variant Doesn’T Seem To Result In Near As Much Hospitalization Or Death And That’S Due To The Genetic Difference Mixed With Immunizations.
