A WASHINGTON COUNTY TENNESSEE JURY HAS FOUND A FORMER TENNESSEE HIGHWAY PATROL TROOPER GUILTY OF ATTACKING HIS EX-GIRLFRIEND. BRETT GARLAND WAS CONVICTED OF ASSAULT INVOLVING OFFENSIVE TOUCHING. THE JURY DECLINED TO ASSESS A FINE FOR THE MISDEMEANOR CHARGE. CRIMINAL COURT JUDGE JERRY BECK ORDERED GARLAND TO SERVE SIX MONTHS OF JUDICIAL DIVERSION AND WAIVED COMMUNITY SERVICE. GARLAND WILL BE ABLE TO HAVE THE CHARGES EXPUNGED FROM HIS RECORD AT A LATER TIME. TAMI JOBE CLAIMED GARLAND HELD HER HEAD IN HIS HANDS AND HEAD BUTTED HER THREE TIMES AGAINST A WALL LAST MAY. HE RESIGNED FROM HIS JOB PRIOR TO THE TRIAL.
