THE TENNESSEE COURT OF CRIMINAL APPEALS HAS UPHELD THE FIRST DEGREE MURDER CONVICTION OF A CARTER COUNTY MAN WHO KILLED HIS GIRLFRIEND IN FRONT OF HER KIDS AT AN ELIZABETHTON FAST FOOD RESTAURANT. STEVEN ALLEN JONES UNDERWENT TWO TRIALS AFTER NEW EVIDENCE SURFACED THAT CORROBORATED HIS TESTIMONY. HE WAS FOUND GUILTY OF FIRST DEGREE MURDER IN BOTH TRIALS. JONES’ DEFENSE WAS HE SHOT HIS GIRLFRIEND IN THE HEAT OF PASSION AFTER SHE SHOWED HIM A PICTURE OF HER IN THE ARMS OF ANOTHER MAN. HE CAN CONTINUE HIS APPEALS TO A HIGHER COURT.
