A CARTER COUNTY MAN, WHO IS SERVING A LIFE SENTENCE FOR KILLING HIS MOTHER-IN-LAW IN 1988, HAS BEEN GRANTED A HEARING. RICKY HARRIS WAS FOUND GUILTY OF FIRST DEGREE MURDER IN THE KILLING OF DOLLY GOUGE OF ELIZABETHTON. HE DUMPED HER BODY IN SOME WOODS IN SULLIVAN COUNTY. GOUGE IS BEING HELD IN THE NORTHEAST CORRECTIONAL FACILITY IN MOUNTAIN CITY. THE TENNESSEE COURT OF APPEALS HAS ORDERED THE HEARING ON GROUNDS THAT INFORMATION WAS WITHHELD FROM THE DEFENSE ABOUT AN ALIBI WITNESS AND A LETTER FROM A MAN NAMED BILL CONFESSING TO THE CRIME.
