Smart Poles Are Coming To Downtown Johnson City. City Leaders Have Agreed To A Joint Pilot Program With TVA And BrightRidge To Install 335-Thousand Dollars Worth Of The Fixtures, Which Have Not Only Lights, But Cameras, Speakers, Pedestrian Counters, Parking Kiosks And A Wi-Fi Hot Spot. The Money Is Being Provided Through A Grant. It’s Still Unclear How Many Of Them Will Be Installed Throughout Downtown, But They Must Be In Place By 2022.
